Stanley F. & Janette I. Karnoscak Scholarship Fund

(Established 2008)

Stanley F. Karnoscak

Janette I. Karnoscak

The Stanley F. and Janette I. Karnoscak Scholarship Fund was created by the Karnoscak Family and friends to honor the lives of this extraordinary couple.

Stanley Karnoscak (1952-2008) was born in Chicago, Illinois. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northern Illinois University.

He began his career in the West Aurora School District in 1974, teaching at several elementary schools and at Herget Middle School. In 2000, he was named “Illinois Art Educator of the Year.”

Mr. Karnoscak also was an instructor of art teachers at Columbia College in Chicago and he taught graduate level courses at Aurora University.

He was a member of the Aurora Education Association West, the Illinois Art Education Association, the National Education Association and Blessed Sacrament Church.

Jan Karnoscak (1951-2009) was born in Chicago, Illinois.  She was a graduate of Reavis High School in Burbank, Illinois and Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Heights, Illinois.

Mrs. Karnoscak received a degree in laboratory technology and was employed as a laboratory technologist for over fifteen years at Dreyer Medical Clinic in Aurora.

During the past year, she served as a reading assistant at Fearn Elementary School.  She also taught religious education classes for adults at the Blessed Sacrament Church in North Aurora.

A devout follower of the Catholic faith, Mrs. Karnoscak was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis.  For many years, she took part in missionary trips to the border of the United States and Mexico to help impoverished women and children.

Consistent with their concern for others, scholarships in their name will be awarded to graduates of West Aurora High School who will be majoring in art or who have learning or physical disabilities.
